Cultural Magazine PR & Comms Support

The Context

A fast-growing cultural magazine preparing for a high-profile launch needed structure in its communications. Multiple departments were pushing requests — from media kits and interviews to partnerships and outreach — but there was no clear system to keep visibility aligned.

The Challenge

No centralized PR/Comms workflow.
Overlapping asks from leadership, creative, and editorial.
Press kits, interviews, and university outreach all urgent at once.
Major visibility opportunities (cover features, partnerships, NYFW) demanded consistency under pressure.

The Solution

The Bold Type Collective stepped in to bring clarity and execution:
Press & Media Kits → drafted, refined, and finalized two polished kits (personal + organizational).
Outreach → built a flexible framework and drove outreach to 10+ HBCUs, media, and partnership contacts.
Interview Support → coordinated interviews with cultural leaders, including prep, scheduling, and follow-ups.
Reporting & Alignment → instituted weekly PR/Comms reports and workload trackers to improve leadership visibility.
Strategic Pivot → when NYFW participation was canceled, we shifted comms to focus on partnerships, HBCUs, and refreshed investor/PR kits aligned with the new editorial theme.

The Results

2 polished press/media kits delivered and in circulation.
10+ HBCU communications contacts engaged.
Interviews secured with multiple cultural leaders (including cover features).
Weekly reporting system implemented, streamlining leadership alignment.
Investor kit + PR kit refreshed to align with new editorial direction.

The Takeaway

Even in high-pressure, high-visibility moments, The Bold Type Collective brings order to chaos. We create clarity, build systems, and execute communications that move people and brands forward.
