I aimed to overhaul ShopManager’s Products & Inventory system to make it faster and more efficient for service shops to manage product orders and track inventory, ultimately boosting productivity and reducing errors.
Project Goals:
Enhance Workflow Efficiency: Streamline product addition and inventory tracking to cut down time spent on administrative tasks.
Reduce User Errors: Design an intuitive interface that minimizes mistakes in product selection and inventory updates.
Improve Usability: Create a user-friendly, clean layout that helps shop staff quickly find and add products without confusion.
Challenges & Requirements: Through observations and interviews with shop technicians and sales reps, I learned that users struggled with a cluttered interface, confusing search functions, and repetitive steps in the product addition process. These insights helped me shape the redesign to focus on simplifying the workflow, improving search functionality, and making critical actions more visible and accessible.
My Approach:
User Research & Pain Point Analysis: Conducted interviews and watched real-time product management to map out where users were facing friction. This allowed me to re-envision the process with fewer steps and a streamlined layout.
Design & Prototyping: Created wireframes and prototypes in Figma, focusing on clean, organized interfaces. I included features like improved search functions, clear visual cues, and an intuitive layout that made navigation faster and easier for users.
Component-Based Design System: Integrated reusable components that aligned with ShopManager’s existing design system, ensuring the solution was consistent and scalable.
Testing & Iteration: Conducted multiple rounds of usability testing with shop staff, adjusting designs based on their feedback to optimize for clarity and ease of use.
Results:
80% Faster Product Addition: Simplified workflows cut the time it took to add products significantly, helping shops operate more efficiently.
64% Reduction in Errors: Improved search and clear input fields reduced user errors, saving time and minimizing the risk of costly mistakes.
81% Increase in User Satisfaction: Positive feedback from users highlighted the redesigned system’s improved usability, contributing to smoother operations and a better overall experience.
This project was a rewarding opportunity to design a system that not only aligned with ShopManager’s business goals but also made day-to-day tasks easier and faster for shop staff. The final product reflected a user-centered approach that brought meaningful improvements to both efficiency and satisfaction.
