We took a challenge in early 2023 with the launch of ChatGPT. In five days, we were able to conceptualize, design, and build an AI-powered travel planner. Upon launch, it gained viral popularity on Twitter, attracting 5,000 users. It was even featured in prominent AI newsletters like Ben's Bites and Not A Bot.

Planning holidays can be stressful, time-consuming, and burdensome. Our goal was to utilize advancements in AI to create a pleasurable user experience for trip planning.

Our priority was to design a superior solution to ChatGPT swiftly. We emphasized intuitive and visually appealing designs that delivered results quickly and sparked user excitement about their upcoming trips.

Based on user interviews, we concluded that a chat interface wasn't ideal for itinerary planning. Therefore, we streamlined the process to a few key questions, enabling users to reach their desired outcome efficiently.

The alternative for users would be modifying prompts on ChatGPT so we concentrated on key elements that would produce travel plans in minutes.

The web application was built on Bubble, utilizing our Figma designs as a foundation. We continuously refined prompts and connected Bubble to OpenAI, allowing users to obtain travel plans in minutes.

Leveraging Bubble's API Connector, we linked various prompts to OpenAI for customized AI-driven travel plans. To further enhance the experience, we experimented with Google Maps, making it easier for users to navigate to recommended locations.

To surpass ChatGPT, we needed to create diverse options. We incorporated functionalities for users to choose their budget, destination country, and preferences, generating a day-by-day travel itinerary that adheres to their budget. Through extensive prompt engineering, users received personalized travel plans, segmented by day and staying within budget.
