Perspecto: 3D mockup tool I designed and built with AI

Perspecto is a browser tool that turns any image or design into a 3D mockup in seconds, with no sign-up and no plugin. I designed it, built it with Claude, and kept shaping it around feedback from people who weren't me.

I needed it for my own work

As a designer I present flat screens every week. Getting depth meant a Figma plugin, a mockup service whose templates never quite fit, or shipping a flat screenshot anyway. I wanted to drop an image in and get a result in under a minute, without breaking my flow.

The sidebar follows the task

Style first, then My presets, Angle, Effects, and Export last: the order someone moves through the job, not the way the settings would naturally group. A first-time visitor never scrolls past anything harder than picking a preset. Three demos, Dashboard, Mobile app and Website, let people try it on something close to their own work before uploading anything.

Built from user feedback

Someone trying the tool asked for curved monitor mockups. The first version was a CSS-only approximation that shipped in under a day. It held up straight on but not once you turned the mockup, so I rebuilt it as real geometry: the image wraps onto a slice of a cylinder, so the edges bow correctly from any angle, in the editor and in every export.

Free is genuine, not a teaser

Free users get every angle, template and effect, with 3 watermarked exports a day. Pro is a $19 one-time upgrade with one rule: anything that saves repeated time is Pro. That means exports up to 4x, GIF, video, SVG and HTML, batch export and saved presets. No subscription and no credit-metered AI features, so nothing in Pro carries an ongoing cost that could force a price change.

One wording change, a wider audience

Perspecto was first positioned around "screenshots". Someone holding a Figma export or a product photo didn't see themselves in that. I rewrote the tagline, drop zone, meta tags, structured data and FAQ around "any image or design".

Building with AI

I described what I wanted to Claude and iterated. The 3D effect came together in the first session. The time went into debugging, deploys and testing in Chrome and Safari. My role was the one I play on any product: define the problem, make the UX and visual calls, test critically and push back when something isn't right. The conversation replaced the code, not the judgment.

Launch content

Nobody hands a solo founder a marketing team, so the ads and social carousels got the same bar as the product: restraint, a point of view and nothing that looks like a template.
