The challenge
Go Emeritus helps companies manage what happens when people leave, giving HR teams a structured way to document knowledge, manage offboarding, and reduce compliance risk.
Three very different users had to share one product without ever seeing each other's data: current employees, ex-employees, and admins. Permissions couldn't be a UI-layer afterthought. They had to be enforced at the data itself.

Permission system built into the database and enforced at the data layer
Okta single sign-on so employees use existing work credentials
Three distinct role experiences (current employee, ex-employee, admin) in one app
Role-based access controls that cannot be bypassed at the UI
Security review built into every new feature shipped across 18 months
