Overview

Role: Product Designer & Design Lead Timeline: From concept to launch Focus: End-to-end UX/UI, Web3 integrations, scalable design system
I led the design of Vold, a decentralized platform that reimagines volunteering. The product connects real-world community service with blockchain-backed identity, token rewards, and NFTs, creating a transparent and motivating ecosystem for both volunteers and organizations.
+250% increase in event attendance.
120K tokens distributed & 500+ NFT badges minted.
Recognized with the Blockchain for Good Award 2024.

THE WHAT

Vold is a Web3 volunteering and rewards ecosystem. It combines event discovery, blockchain-based identity, token incentives, and community features into a single platform.
Volunteers discover opportunities, join events, and earn $VOLD tokens and NFT badges.
Organizations manage events, automate rewards via smart contracts, and access verifiable volunteer profiles.
The ecosystem spans a mobile app, web dashboard, and Chrome extension, making volunteering transparent, rewarding, and scalable.

THE WHY

Traditional volunteering faces challenges:
Awareness – People don’t know about events nearby.
Recognition – Contributions rarely translate into proof or lasting value.
Trust – Organizers struggle to verify participants.
Fragmentation – No unified tool for discovery, identity, and rewards.
Vold uses blockchain, decentralized identity (DID NFTs), and tokenization to solve these issues, giving volunteers recognition and organizations trusted participation.

THE HOW

Designed end-to-end UX: onboarding, event discovery, wallet, marketplace, AI assistant.
Simplified complex blockchain flows (wallet setup, identity verification, token redemption).
Built a modular design system to scale from MVP to full ecosystem.
Collaborated with blockchain engineers on smart contracts, DID standards, and tokenomics.
Focused on trust by design: clear verification steps, transparent reward distribution, secure wallet onboarding.

RESEARCH METHODS

Conducted interviews with volunteers, NGOs, and corporate CSR teams.
Validated pain points around event awareness, lack of incentives, and verification.
Benchmarked existing Web2 volunteering platforms and mapped gaps that Web3 could uniquely solve.
Tested prototypes with non-crypto users to ensure flows were intuitive.

INTERVIEW INSIGHTS

Volunteers wanted recognition that could be shared or proven (like certificates).
Most were not crypto-native, highlighting the need for simplified wallet onboarding.
Organizations cared about trust and efficiency – ensuring volunteers were genuine and distributing rewards without manual admin.
Younger participants were more open to token/NFT rewards, while older groups valued impact transparency.

KEY MOTIVATORS

Tangible rewards → Tokens and NFT badges increased motivation to volunteer more often.
On-chain reputation → A portable record of contributions built trust and credibility.
Community & visibility → Social proof encouraged repeat participation.
Transparency → Smart contracts automated rewards, reducing doubts about fairness.
Utility of tokens → Marketplace goods, donations, and redeemable value created a real economy of impact.

THE DESIGN

Crafted a seamless volunteer journey: discover → join → verify → earn → showcase.
Created an event marketplace with personalized discovery and reputation-gated creation.
Designed a non-custodial wallet with simplified onboarding for first-time crypto users.
Built NFT & Goods marketplaces to extend reward utility.
Integrated an AI assistant to guide new users and automate actions.
Developed a dashboard for organizations with analytics, event creation, and automated token distribution.
Established a unified design system to keep consistency across app, web, and extension.
Result: Vold launched as a pioneering Web3-for-social-good platform.
70K+ wallets created in 6 months.
+250% increase in event attendance.
120K tokens distributed & 500+ NFT badges minted.
Recognized with the Blockchain for Good Award 2024.
