The Bible is the most read book in the world and is therefore also called “The Book of Books.” At first glance, it looks like other books, but when we examine it more closely, we see that it is completely unlike any other book.

The reason for this is that the Bible is not a single book, but many books — 66 in total. The word “Bible” is Greek and means “book.” We also know the word “bibliotek,” or “library,” and you could say that the Bible is a library.

The books are very different; for example, in the Bible you can find laws, stories, emotional poetry, proverbs, diaries, psalms, and letters. The Bible is divided into two parts — the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains 39 books, and the New Testament contains 27 books. In the beginning, the oldest writings in the Bible were passed down orally from generation to generation, but over time they were written down.

Many different people have written the Bible. It is not easy to say how old the Christian writings are, and those who try to assign dates often disagree. It is believed that the oldest writings were composed around 1000 BC.
