Heathland Links

A premium golf discovery app, designed and built from scratch

Project Overview

Heathland Links is a mobile golf-discovery app created from scratch for iOS and Android.
The client arrived with an AI-generated concept that looked like a product on the surface but was not usable as a real application. I took the core idea and turned it into a considered brand, a clear user experience, clean application code, and a deployed mobile product.

The Opportunity

Golf discovery needs to make course exploration feel useful and effortless. Users should be able to create an account, discover courses, understand location through an interactive map, and keep up with activity without being buried in clutter.
The brief called for a real product, not a visual concept. Every important interaction needed to work, from registration and profiles through discovery, mapping, and the activity feed.

Brand & Product Direction

I defined a premium visual direction that gives Heathland Links a distinct place in the golf space.
The design work included:
Brand-aligned color, type, imagery, and interface direction
A refined mobile system for cards, controls, navigation, menus, and feedback
Clear hierarchy for course discovery and exploration
Mobile-first interaction patterns
Reusable components that support future product growth

UI/UX Design

The experience was designed around the complete user journey, from first registration through exploration and engagement.

Core user flows

User registration and authentication
User profile creation and management
Course search and discovery
Interactive course-map exploration
Activity-feed browsing

Design scope

Navigation architecture and product flows
Wireframes and high-fidelity mobile screens
Loading, empty, error, and completed-action states
Reusable components and interaction specifications
Development-ready design assets and layouts

Application Development

The application was built in React Native with Expo and a PostgreSQL-backed data layer.

Technical scope

React Native architecture built from the ground up
Expo setup for iOS and Android builds
Authentication and user-account flows
Profile functionality
Course search and discovery
Interactive map experience
Activity feed
PostgreSQL-backed product data
Responsive layouts, QA, and bug fixing

Store Deployment

The final release work covered both major mobile storefronts.
End-to-end testing and quality assurance
App icons, screenshots, and store-listing assets
Apple App Store submission
Google Play Store submission
Production deployment for iOS and Android

Delivery

The project moved from a non-functional AI-generated concept to a complete mobile product, including the 5 core features: authentication, user profiles, golf-course discovery, an interactive course map, and an activity feed.

My Role

I led the project end to end, from brand direction and mobile UX through React Native development, PostgreSQL implementation, quality assurance, and store deployment.
