Project Overview: Employee database web application

Overview:

Staff Pivot is a comprehensive employee database web application developed to streamline HR and administrative functions. Built using PHP and MySQL, the application features both desktop and mobile-responsive views, allowing organizations to manage and track employee information efficiently. With modules for handling employee demographics, credentials, discipline, absences, recruitment, and meetings, Staff Pivot provides a holistic view of workforce management. Additionally, the application supports hierarchical user access for varied roles and includes architecture for future scalability and feature expansion..

Project Goals:

The primary objectives for developing Staff Pivot included:
Enhanced Employee Data Management: Create an organized platform to consolidate employee records and provide a seamless view of key information.
Scalability: Design a flexible system that can expand to meet growing organizational needs and incorporate new features over time.
Mobile and Desktop Accessibility: Ensure that employees and administrators can access the system through both desktop and mobile devices for convenience.
Secure, Role-Based Access: Implement a secure access structure that limits data visibility and functions based on the user’s role within the organization.

Pain Points:

The client faced several pain points in managing their workforce:
Fragmented Employee Records: Key employee data was scattered across different platforms, making it difficult to access comprehensive employee profiles.
Lack of User-Friendly Interfaces: Existing systems were not optimized for mobile devices, limiting access for remote or on-the-go employees.
Data Security and Access Control: The client needed secure access management to control sensitive information based on user roles.
Scalability Issues: The existing setup lacked the flexibility to expand or integrate new features, leading to limited operational efficiency.
Difficulty Tracking Employee Attendance and Discipline: Manual processes for tracking absences, discipline, and performance were inefficient and prone to error.

My Solution:

Centralized Database Management: Consolidated all employee data into a single platform to improve record accuracy and accessibility.
Responsive Design for All Devices: Built with mobile and desktop adaptability, allowing employees and administrators to access the system from any device.
Role-Based User Access: Implemented a hierarchical access system, assigning role-specific permissions that secure sensitive data and provide custom functionalities.
Automation of Attendance and Discipline Tracking: Developed automated tracking for employee attendance, absences, and disciplinary actions, significantly reducing manual workload and enhancing reporting accuracy.

Key Metrics:

To measure the success and impact of Staff Pivot, the following key metrics were identified:
