Collaglo needed to launch their collagen supplement business across six different markets simultaneously, but they faced a significant technical hurdle: subscription payment systems work differently across regions. While most markets could use Shopify's native checkout, the Netherlands and Belgium required a completely different subscription provider called Firmhouse due to local payment regulations and requirements.
The real complexity? Making sure customers only saw the payment options relevant to their location—Belgian and Dutch customers needed to see Firmhouse checkout buttons, while everyone else used the standard Shopify flow. Getting this wrong would mean confused customers and lost sales.
What We Built
I developed the entire Collaglo store using Shopify's Dawn theme with Instant page builder, creating a seamless experience across 11 pages including the homepage, product pages, about section, and a custom slide-out cart. The entire build was on Shopify using the free Dawn theme and Instant page builder.
Solving the Subscription Problem
The biggest technical challenge was the dual payment system. I built conditional logic that:
Detected each customer's market location
Displayed Firmhouse subscription buttons exclusively for the Netherlands and Belgium visitors
Showed standard Shopify checkout for all other markets
Ensured the right payment processor was triggered based on geography
This meant customers in Amsterdam saw different subscription options than someone in Paris, despite being on the same product page.
Multi-Market Architecture
Beyond payments, the store needed to function as six distinct storefronts. Using Shopify's native translate & adapt app alongside Instant's capabilities, I set up:
Localized content for each market
Regional pricing in local currencies
Market-specific product bundles
Translated product descriptions and marketing content
Everything was configured natively—no clunky third-party integrations that would slow down the site or create maintenance headaches down the road.
The Results
Cost Savings: By building with Instant and leveraging Shopify's native features, we avoided over $10,000 in custom development costs that a traditional build would have required.
Launch Speed: Instead of building and testing six separate stores, we deployed one platform that automatically adapted to each market.
Scalability: The architecture makes it straightforward to add new markets in the future—just configure the regional settings and payment preferences without rebuilding core functionality.
Technical Approach
The project stayed entirely within the Shopify ecosystem:
Payment Integration: Shopify Payments, Stripe, and Firmhouse working in harmony
Page Building: Instant page builder for all 11 pages, maintaining design consistency from Figma mockups
Localization: Shopify's translate & adapt for multi-language support
Subscriptions: Conditional rendering based on geolocation for the dual subscription system
The clean technical stack means Collaglo's team can manage content updates themselves without developer intervention, and future expansions won't require major rebuilds.
