Project Overview

Bright Bridge Support Living is a support organisation dedicated to providing tailored support and housing for young people across the UK. As part of their brand transformation, they needed a new website that reflected their values; trust, safety, and empowerment, while also serving as a reliable communication and information hub for families, social workers, and local authorities.
I was responsible for the full design and development of the Bright Bridge website. This included UX/UI design, WordPress setup and theme customisation, and frontend interactivity using jQuery. The goal was to create a clean, responsive, and accessible digital experience that could scale with the brand’s growth.

Project Goals

Redesign Bright Bridge’s web presence to reflect their updated visual identity and mission.
Develop a responsive, mobile-friendly site that feels approachable and professional.
Empower the internal team to manage content easily via WordPress.
Introduce smooth, non-intrusive animations using jQuery for added engagement.
Build a clear information structure to help users find support services easily.

Research & Discovery

To understand the needs of Bright Bridge’s audience, I conducted a stakeholder discovery session and reviewed competitor websites in the care and support living sector. The findings were clear: users needed immediate access to core information (services, referrals, contact details) without clutter or friction. This insight led to a streamlined sitemap and wireframe focused on hierarchy, trust signals, and empathetic language.

UX/UI Design

The design process started in Figma, where I built wireframes and translated them into high-fidelity mockups. The visual direction leaned into calm tones, open white space, and friendly but professional typography. Imagery played a crucial role in evoking trust, so I incorporated authentic photography paired with clear calls to action.
The homepage was structured to highlight the organisation’s values, core services, and approach to care. Key internal pages like “About us”, “Referral program”, etc. were designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring contrast ratios, readable fonts, and keyboard navigation support.

Development & Implementation

I used WordPress as the CMS to give the Bright Bridge team full control over their content. The site was built using a lightweight, customisable theme and enhanced with Elementor for modular page building.
To elevate the browsing experience and implement some of the site interactions, I incorporated jQuery for subtle interactive elements.
These interactions were intentionally light and accessible, ensuring they didn’t hinder performance or disrupt usability.
The website was fully responsive, tested across breakpoints for mobile, tablet, and desktop, and optimised for performance and fast load times.

Results & Impact

The finished website delivered on all key goals: it gave Bright Bridge a refreshed, modern identity online and helped simplify the information journey for users seeking support. The client was able to independently update text, add blog posts, and manage referrals through the WordPress admin, without needing developer support.
User feedback highlighted the site’s clarity and warmth, while local authority partners praised its professional layout and ease of access. Post-launch, the site saw improved engagement metrics, including lower bounce rates and more time spent on key service pages.

Takeaways

This project reinforced the importance of aligning visual storytelling with functional design. It also highlighted how even subtle interactive touches, when thoughtfully applied, can bring a site to life. By blending WordPress flexibility with handcrafted jQuery animations, I was able to deliver a professional, user-friendly platform that reflects Bright Bridge’s mission and empowers their team moving forward.
