Mood Must is a mobile app designed to help users track, analyze, and reflect on their emotional well-being. The goal was to create a simple yet powerful tool that encourages consistent journaling of moods, identifies emotional patterns, and provides actionable insights for self-awareness and mental health management.
Problem Statement
Mental health often goes untracked because:
Existing apps are cluttered and overwhelming.
Users forget to log moods due to lack of reminders.
Raw mood data rarely translates into meaningful insights.
Key Challenge:
Designing a tool that makes mood tracking frictionless, engaging, and insight-driven while maintaining a minimal learning curve.
Objectives
Ease of Use: One-tap mood logging with intuitive icons and colors.
Consistency: Daily reminders to nudge users to reflect on emotions.
Self-Awareness: Generate insights on mood trends, triggers, and lifestyle correlations.
Privacy: Ensure data is safe and personal with optional passcode/FaceID.
Design Process
Wireframing
Focused on a single-screen logging flow to reduce friction.
Iterated on emoji vs. color gradient vs. slider for mood input → settled on emoji + gradient.
Visual Design
Adopted a calming pastel palette to evoke positivity.
Used rounded typography and minimal UI for a non-clinical feel.
Engagement: 72% of testers logged moods daily for 2+ weeks.
Retention: 65% continued after initial testing, citing “easy to use” as top reason.
Self-Awareness: Users reported identifying patterns like “stress peaks on Mondays” or “happier after workouts.”
