Adapting Voice, Research & Strategy Across Niches

I write blogs for clients across food, health, finance, and advocacy. Each niche demands a different voice, research depth, and content strategy, but the goal is always the same: educate the reader, build trust in the brand, and drive a specific action.
Here's a look at three client engagements that show how I adapt my writing to different industries and audiences.

Maalum Foods — Food, Lifestyle & Nutrition

Client: Maalum Foods, a Kenyan food brand selling natural flours and powders (sweet potato, cassava, arrowroot, millet, green banana, and tomato powder).
Brief: Write lifestyle and educational blog content that connects traditional Kenyan ingredients to modern health-conscious eating, while naturally driving readers toward Maalum's products.
Approach: I leaned into storytelling and cultural connection. Rather than writing dry product descriptions, I explored the cultural significance of ingredients like cassava and sweet potatoes, wove in nutritional science, and included practical recipes readers could try using Maalum's flours. Every post ended with a relatable CTA tied to the product.
Sample posts:
What made it work: Conversational tone that felt like talking to a friend, not reading a health pamphlet. SEO-optimized for ingredient and recipe searches. Every post included a recipe, educational links, and a product CTA with pricing and ordering details.

3W Kenya — Health, Advocacy & Social Impact

Client: Women Working with Women (3W Kenya), a Kisumu-based women's rights organization focused on LGBTQ+ inclusive reproductive healthcare.
Brief: Write advocacy blog content for LGBTQ+ History Month that highlights the real healthcare barriers facing LGBTQ+ communities in Kenya, while centering community voices and driving awareness.
Approach: This required a completely different register. I combined research citations (Aljazeera, Journal of Sexually Transmitted Infections) with real community testimonies to ground the piece in lived experience. The tone balanced urgency with warmth, making a heavy topic accessible without diluting its seriousness. I included actionable self-care recommendations and highlighted ongoing systemic efforts.
Sample post:
What made it work: Research-backed credibility paired with human storytelling. The piece didn't just inform; it gave readers concrete ways to care for themselves and their community. The CTA was implicit: awareness leads to advocacy.

Abacus Wealth Management — Finance & Education

Client: Abacus Wealth Management, a Kenyan fintech company licensed as a data vendor by the Nairobi Securities Exchange, offering savings, investment, insurance, and retirement planning products.
Brief: Write educational blog content that makes financial concepts accessible and engaging, while funneling readers toward Abacus's Wealth Academy courses.
Approach: I used historical narrative as the hook. Instead of opening with "here's why you should invest," I told the story of the Knights Templar and how they accidentally invented modern banking 900 years ago. The reader gets pulled through history and arrives at the present-day relevance of financial ownership and literacy. The CTA to join the Wealth Academy felt like a natural next step, not a sales pitch.
Sample post:
What made it work: Narrative-driven structure that made finance feel like storytelling. Long-form, well-researched, with a clear educational arc that positioned Abacus as a knowledgeable guide rather than a pushy seller.

My Process

Every blog engagement follows the same core workflow, adapted to the client's niche:
Client & audience familiarization — I study the brand, their existing content, their audience, and the tone they're going for
Theme research — Deep research into the topic, pulling from credible sources, studies, and cultural context
Draft layout — I outline the major points I want to capture before writing, so the structure serves the reader's journey
Image sourcing — I find license-free images that resonate with the content, or use images the client provides
Writing & SEO adaptation — I write the full draft, optimize for the niche's relevant search terms, and craft a CTA that feels relatable rather than forced
Delivery & revisions — I deliver in Google Docs for collaborative editing and corrections
Website upload — Once approved, I upload the final version directly to the client's website (WordPress, Wix, or other CMS)

Range

I write across finance, tech, science, advocacy, health, lifestyle, food, and culture. The common thread is that I adapt my voice and research depth to match the audience, and I always write with a clear purpose: educate, build trust, and move the reader toward action.
