Valamar Travel Blog Redesign: Improving How Travel Content Supports Exploration and Booking
We redesigned Valamar’s travel blog to create a more premium and flexible editorial experience for one of the region’s best-known hospitality brands. The goal was to elevate the way Valamar presents travel inspiration, while supporting a wide range of content formats across its blog ecosystem.
A key part of the challenge was designing for two very different destination narratives within one cohesive platform.
On one side, we needed to highlight warm summer Croatia—its coastline, islands, sunshine, and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere.
On the other, we needed to present winter Austria through a completely different lens—snowy landscapes, alpine scenery, and cold-season travel experiences.
The design had to make both destinations feel distinct and emotionally engaging, while still belonging to the same Valamar universe.
To achieve this, we designed a wide range of hero sections, article templates, guides, and category-based layouts that could adapt to different themes, tones, and travel contexts.
We first had to understand the client’s content structure and the different types of articles they wanted to publish—from destination inspiration and seasonal campaigns to travel tips, curated guides, and promotional content.
This helped us define a flexible system that could support many editorial scenarios without feeling repetitive.
The visual direction focused on balancing consistency with variety. Through typography, composition, imagery, and supporting graphic elements, we created templates that could shift between the warmth of seaside Croatia and the elegance of alpine Austria, while maintaining a unified brand experience.
Along the way, we also designed supporting pages and modules such as article listings, tag pages, author pages, destination overviews, and error states.
