Between June 2018 and October 2018, I took the lead on a pivotal initiative at BEDGEAR aimed at dramatically improving operational efficiency within their South Carolina manufacturing and warehouse facility. This strategic project involved the integration of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) with NetSuite, a move designed to optimize our operations and enhance inventory management. After a thorough evaluation of available options, RF Smart was selected for its high degree of compatibility with our systems and the flexibility it offered through customization to meet our specific operational needs.
The execution of this project involved a series of critical steps, starting with the selection and customization of RF Smart as the WMS solution that best suited our requirements. This was particularly challenging given our customized NetSuite ERP system, but through meticulous planning and execution, we ensured a seamless alignment between the two systems. Another significant aspect of the project was spearheading an infrastructure upgrade within the warehouse to support the new technologies being introduced, including handheld scanners, hip printers, and pick-pack-ship stations. This upgrade was essential for accommodating the advanced capabilities of the integrated WMS and NetSuite ERP.
One of the core objectives of this integration was to enhance cycle counting efficiency and accuracy, with the aim of achieving double-digit improvements and eliminating the necessity for end-of-year inventory counts. This ambitious goal presented its own set of challenges, particularly in terms of integrating a WMS into an already customized NetSuite environment. Despite these obstacles, we navigated the customization challenges effectively, ensuring that both systems functioned seamlessly together.
The impact of this project on our operations was significant. We achieved a substantial improvement in operational efficiency and inventory management accuracy, exceeding our initial targets. Furthermore, by eliminating the need for end-of-year inventory counts, we enabled uninterrupted year-round operations in our warehouse and manufacturing facility, a major milestone in our operational strategy.
This project highlighted my skills in several key areas, including problem-solving and innovation, strategic planning and execution, technology-enabled business transformation, strategic systems integration and process automation, technology innovation, business transformation, data-driven decision making, technology roadmapping, change management, digital strategy development, cross-functional team leadership, operational efficiency and IT infrastructure upgrade, innovative technology solutions, ERP implementation and management, digital transformation, and innovation in digital services. Leading the WMS integration with NetSuite was a testament to my ability to drive significant business transformation through strategic technology integration, underscoring my commitment to enhancing operational efficiencies and pushing the boundaries of technological innovation at BEDGEAR.
