Connect is a B2B fintech platform that emerged as a spin-off from Lucky One. After seven years of experience building and operating within the banking space, the business team saw an opportunity to repurpose the core banking platform they had developed and transform it into a standalone SaaS solution. The result was Connect: a product designed to enable companies to issue their own branded debit cards and manage users through an intuitive admin dashboard.
In addition to the SaaS platform, Connect also includes a mobile app available for both iOS and Android. This app is geared toward end users who receive the issued debit cards. Through the app, users can access their virtual cards, explore personalized offers, monitor their spending, and top up their balances in a seamless and user-friendly environment.
For this project, I adopted a pragmatic and strategic approach. Since Connect was born out of Lucky One, I leveraged existing design systems, user flows, and learnings—particularly for complex features like onboarding and the OCR (optical character recognition) process. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I focused on adapting and rebranding these components to match Connect’s new identity.
We followed an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) methodology, supported by a slicing strategy to release core functionalities in stages. Regular design reviews and checkpoints ensured we were aligned with business goals and user feedback, helping us finalize flows quickly and efficiently while staying on schedule.
The Challenge
At the time, I was serving as the Head of Product Design at Lucky One when the idea for Connect was proposed by the business team. This meant I had to split my focus across both projects, strategically managing resources and time within the design team. The timeline was aggressive: within just three months, we aimed to bring a new product to market. My responsibilities included:
Defining and delivering a new visual identity for the Connect brand
Designing and developing a marketing landing page
Creating a fully functional native app for both iOS and Android
Building a SaaS dashboard—where we used a UI library to accelerate development
Crafting a tailored UI kit for each of the two main products
Key Features Designed
Some of the main features I designed for the Connect ecosystem include:
KYC Onboarding: A secure, streamlined process for verifying user identity using document scanning and OCR.
Top-Up Functionality: Users can add funds to their account through multiple methods with a few simple steps.
Transaction List: A clean and readable interface to view past transactions and track spending behavior.
Card Management: Options to temporarily block, unblock, or replace cards for enhanced user control and security.
Reports: Data visualization and export features to help users analyze their spending patterns.
Self-Service Card Requests: Users can request physical or virtual cards directly from the app.
Offers and Shopping Experience: Integrated marketplace and offers section tailored to user preferences.
