About LuckyONE: Revolutionizing Financial Freedom in Egypt

Founded in 2018, LuckyONE has transformed from a simple discount app into Egypt’s largest fintech super app, empowering over 13 million active users with seamless access to credit, cashback rewards, and an unparalleled merchant network.
Unlike traditional banking, LuckyONE was built for real people—offering easy-to-use financial products that make everyday life more affordable. Whether it’s instant credit, discounts at thousands of stores, or redeemable cashback, LuckyONE has become the go-to financial companion for millions of Egyptians, many of whom are experiencing digital financial services for the first time.

My Role: Leading Product Design from Concept to Scale

As Head of Product Design & UX/UI Designer, I joined LuckyONE at its inception and played a pivotal role in shaping its evolution. My work spanned:
Brand Identity & Visual Design – Crafting a bold, trustworthy, yet approachable fintech brand.
End-to-End Digital Product Design – Designing two native apps (iOS & Android), a cashback website, and a back-office merchant system (CMT).
Product Strategy & Scalability – Ensuring the design system could adapt as the business rapidly expanded.

The Challenge: From Discount App to Full-Fledged Fintech Super App

LuckyONE began as a discount discovery app, but user needs quickly evolved—people wanted more financial control. The business shifted toward becoming a digital wallet with credit, payments, and rewards.
The biggest challenge? Transitioning the product without disrupting 13 million users. Many fintechs would have rebuilt everything from scratch, but my scalable design approach allowed us to seamlessly pivot in just two months—saving time, resources, and ensuring a smooth user experience.

Key Design Decisions & Impact

1. A Trustworthy Yet Vibrant Brand Identity

Fintechs must balance credibility with approachability. I moved away from generic corporate aesthetics and introduced:
A bold, optimistic color palette (deep blues for trust, vibrant accents for energy).
Clean, modern typography ensuring readability across all touchpoints.
Friendly yet professional illustrations to make finance feel less intimidating.
Result: A brand that feels reliable to first-time users while standing out in Egypt’s competitive fintech space.

2. Scalable Design System for Rapid Growth

Since LuckyONE’s features kept expanding, I built a modular design system with:
Reusable UI components (buttons, cards, transaction flows).
Flexible templates for new features (loans, payments, cashback).
Consistent interactions across Android, iOS, and web.
Result: Faster development, seamless updates, and a unified experience as the product evolved.

3. Intuitive UX for First-Time Digital Users

Many Egyptians were new to digital wallets, so I prioritized:
Simplified onboarding with minimal steps.
Clear transaction flows (sending money, paying bills, redeeming cashback).
Visual cues & micro-interactions to guide users effortlessly.
Result: Higher engagement, fewer support queries, and millions of successful transactions.

Today, LuckyONE is Egypt’s #1 merchant network and a financial lifeline for millions. My design leadership ensured: ✅ Smooth product evolution from discounts to full-scale fintech. ✅ A trusted, user-friendly brand that stands out in a crowded market. ✅ A scalable design foundation that supports continuous innovation.
