Introduction

SlimeWallet is a conceptual crypto wallet designed to explore clarity, trust, and system consistency in irreversible financial environments.
The project focuses on simplifying high-risk blockchain interactions including wallet creation, asset transfers, and token swaps through structured friction, progressive disclosure, and transparent feedback states.
The goal was to design a secure yet intuitive experience that reduces user anxiety while maintaining visual depth and modern interface aesthetics.

The Problem

Decentralized exchanges are powerful but intimidating for non-technical users.
Many DEX interfaces:
Feel overly technical
Prioritizes data density over clarity
Present financial actions without enough visual reassurance
Make high-stake actions feel abrupt
For everyday users, interacting with a DEX can feel risky and unfamiliar

The Solution

SlimeWallet reimagines the DEX experience with a trust-first and clarity-driven interface.
The focus was on:
Clear visual hierarchy for high-risk actions
Immediate visibility of key actions (Swap, Send, Receive)
Reduced data clutter
Strong visual feedback and confirmation states

Visual Strategy

To support high-stakes financial interactions, the interface adopts a tactile, depth-driven design language. The use of controlled highlights, layered surfaces, and strong visual weight was intended to:
Reinforce action importance
Communicate stability and solidity
Create intentional pauses before irreversible steps
Differentiate from flat, hyper-technical DEX interfaces

Design Rationale

Prioritized clarity over feature density in high-risk flows
Used progressive disclosure to reveal complexity contextually
Introduced structured friction during wallet creation
Maintained consistent feedback patterns across transactional states

Design System

To maintain consistency across high-risk financial interactions, I developed a lightweight but scalable design system covering color, typography, components, and interaction states.
The system was built to ensure visual clarity, predictable behavior, and reuse across wallet creation, transfers, and swap flows

Onboarding Screens

The first screen establishes trust and clarity before introducing high-stakes actions.
Users are immediately presented with a clear, low-friction choice between creating a new wallet or importing an existing one

Insight

Users should understand their options before understanding the system

Wallet Import

Design Challenge
Wallet recovery is a high-risk action with irreversible consequences.
Goal
Reduce anxiety while improving input accuracy by providing;
Clean, distraction-free input state
Structured seed phrase segmentation
Clear primary action after validation
Insight
Users make more errors when sensitive inputs lack structure

Wallet Import Feedback

Design Challenge
Importing a wallet is a high-risk interaction.
Clear feedback is essential to maintain user trust and prevent uncertainty.
Goal
Eliminate doubt after submission to reinforce confidence in system responses
The system provides:
Clear visual confirmation upon success
Strong iconography and color to reduce doubt
A clear primary action to proceed
Calm retry state in case of failure
Insight
Visual aggression increases perceived system instability

New Wallet Creation

Design Challenge
Wallet creation transfers full security responsibility to the user.
Goal
Present the phrase generation in a structured, readable format
Ask users to verify their phrase
Reinforce the importance of secure phrase storage
Insight
Verification transforms passive viewing into active documentation
Risk Mitigation Strategy
Users ignore warning but they rarely ignore required actions
Design Objective
Encourage deliberate acknowledgment before proceeding
Reinforce the importance of secure phrase storage

Wallet Home Screen

Design Challenge
High level overview of portfolio holdings with primary actions and a closer look to specific assets
Goals
Present token icons for easy recognition
Current token price and live ticker
Make primary actions easy to use
Current price chart
Recent transactions
Insight
Users scan portfolios before analysing positions

Send Crypto

Transaction input & dynamic summary
This flow was designed to keep the initial interface minimal while revealing critical information with context
Frame 1 (Default state)
Users enter recipient wallet address and amount
Primary action remains disabled until required fields are completed to reduce accidental submissions
Frame 2: Filled state (Progressive disclosure)
Network (gas) fee
Total amount deducted
Estimated confirmation time
Amount user is sending
Insight
Reducing errors help keep users on happy path

Clear Transactional Feedback

Given the irreversible nature of blockchain transfers, explicit feedback is critical to reinforce trust and clarity
Frame 1: Success state
Provide clear confirmation
Offer immediate next action
Avoid ambiguous completion states
Frame 2: Error state
Clearly communicate the cause of failure
Allow fast recovery without restarting the flow
Insight
Ambiguous completion states erode user trust

Swap Asset - Token Selection

Asset selection & swap initiation
This staged progression prevents missclicks to ensures clarity before moving into pricing and exchange calculation
Frame 1: Choose asset to give (From token)
Clear token identification (icon, ticker, balance)
Real-time price visibility & change indicator
Frame 2: Choose asset to give (State change)
The selected token is highlighted
The primary CTA (“Continue”) becomes active
Insight
Premature clicks increases error risk
Asset selection & swap completion
Users input the amount to be swapped and destination
Frame 1: Empty state
Token identification & balance
Currency selector
Max balance shortcut
Frame 2: Filled state of Frame 1 (Progressive disclosure)
Gas fee revealed
Slippage visibility
Service provider context
Insight
Delay complexity until commitment is formed

Swap Asset - Feedback states

The success and error states provide immediate, actionable feedback with clear messaging to reduce user anxiety during blockchain transaction processing
Frame 1: Success state
Immediate visual confirmation upon successful swap
Strong iconography and color to reduce ambiguity
A clear primary action to proceed
Frame 2: Error state
A calm and low stress state for an otherwise stressful feedback
Unmistakeable icon to represent the error state
A clear primary action to retry without restarting the flow
Insight
Calm feedback reduces perceived transaction risk.

Expected Impact

Reduced transaction errors through progressive disclosure
Increased user trust via transparent fee breakdown
Improved clarity in high-risk blockchain interactions
Consistent feedback patterns to reduce uncertainty

Future Improvements

Add transaction preview confirmation before final send
Introduce customizable slippage tolerance in swap
Implement gas speed selection for advanced users
Conduct usability testing around seed phrase comprehension
Explore biometric confirmation for high-value transfers

Final Reflection

This project explored designing for irreversible financial systems where clarity and trust are critical. It reinforced the role of structured friction, transparency, and system consistency in reducing user error and anxiety. It also gave me the opportunity to explore a tactile, layered design language while ensuring that visual depth never compromised usability in high-risk financial interactions
