Overview

Grounded Solution, a field management software for electricians, serves both residential and commercial clients across the Midwest. The system primarily targets Admins who manage operations like staff scheduling, client and location handling, quotes, and timesheets. This project was a complete redesign of a previously broken system with poor user experience. The client also intended to white-label the app for broader market distribution to other electricians. The main challenge was designing intuitive interfaces for data-heavy workflows while ensuring scalability for multi-location commercial clients.

Ensuring that scheduling and dispatching workers for multiple locations is intuitive and efficient

The system needed to handle complex scenarios, such as multi-location client management and efficient scheduling for staff based on availability, without overwhelming the user.

Process

Our team started the project by understanding the user’s needs and gathering insights through interviews and surveys. We researched competitors and industry best practices to identify trends and gaps. Based on these insights, we ideated and prototyped potential solutions, iterating based on user feedback to refine the final design.

Solution

The solution was focused on simplifying complex workflows by designing intuitive forms, scheduling systems, and data management tools. By organizing client and location data efficiently and streamlining dispatching processes, users can quickly manage tasks and schedules.
The final design features an easy-to-navigate interface, with dynamic filters and mobile-friendly views for field staff, ensuring smooth operations from both desktop and mobile platforms. The design also ensures scalability, allowing for seamless use across multiple locations and clients.

Takeaway & Reflection

Delivered a user-centric solution that streamlined workflows for Admins and field staff while addressing the unique needs of multi-location commercial clients.
This project reinforced the importance of collaborative stakeholder engagement and iterative design in tackling complex, data-heavy systems. Future iterations could explore advanced analytics and AI-driven scheduling for further optimization.
