The Robinsons is a 34 townhome project currently in development (2021). The presentation centre is open and a physical model of the finished product can be found inside. As these homes are being sold during the COVID-19 pandemic, I noticed the opportunity to provide an alternative, enhanced mixed reality experience within the physical space at the presentation centre.
The Challenge
Designing the user experience for this personal project was very motivating, as I had complete control of the project objectives and the steps taken to reach those objectives. The goal was to design a mock interactive MR experience that would improve the visit to the presentation centre. The main benefits would include social distancing protocols being encouraged and increasing the spacial capacity from one to two groups of people at the same time. The main challenge was designing the experience to be interactive and fun, but not take away from the human interaction component.
The Solution
With some guidance and feedback from a couple of realtors on the site, I managed to design a simple MR experience prototype. This design was meant to address a few issues faced by the realtors and their clients on site. For example, the interactive experience would make it easier for clients to explore which units were sold or available, a useful feature during multi-group presentations.
