Revolutionizing AI-Powered Conversations with Strategic Design

TalkToo is an AI-powered conversation app designed to offer users engaging interactions with characters from TV shows, historical figures, movies, and more. As the lead designer, my goal was to create a seamless, intuitive, and visually appealing interface that would provide users with effortless access to diverse characters and conversations. The app is designed to help users explore new characters via a Discover page and engage with them on a personalized Characters page.

Simplified Character Discovery: Create an intuitive Discover page where users could effortlessly browse characters based on categories such as TV, movies, and history.

Engaging Conversations: Develop the Characters page to ensure users have a dynamic and personalized experience while interacting with their selected characters.

User-Friendly Navigation: Design a seamless flow between discovering, selecting, and conversing with characters, making sure the interactions are simple and fun.

High Engagement and Retention: Provide visually appealing and easy-to-use interfaces that would keep users coming back for more conversations and character explorations.

The design process began with in-depth user research to understand how users would naturally interact with an AI-driven app centered on conversations with characters. After developing user personas and user flows, we focused on key areas of the user experience to ensure it was intuitive and engaging.

We designed the Discover page as the central hub for users to explore a wide variety of characters across different categories such as TV, movies, and history. The page features a clean and visually engaging layout, allowing users to quickly browse characters by genre or interest, with clear calls to action for selecting and interacting with characters.

To enhance usability, we implemented a bottom navigation system that gives users quick access to key features like Discover, Characters, Journeys (story mode with characters), their personal profile, and Chats. This system ensured a fluid user experience, allowing users to easily switch between sections of the app without getting lost, making the app feel intuitive.

Understanding that the first experience is crucial, we designed a seamless and engaging onboarding process. The onboarding flow introduces users to the app's main features and guides them through character discovery and interaction in a simple, step-by-step manner. This process was tested and refined to reduce friction and increase user retention right from the start.

Beyond the front-end experience, we developed an internal management tool that allows the team to manage character content, track user engagement, and monitor app performance. The tool was designed with usability in mind, ensuring that the content management process is efficient and scalable as the platform grows.

The TalkToo project allowed me to push the boundaries of AI-driven conversational design while prioritizing a seamless and intuitive user experience. By understanding the users' needs and designing a solution that blends simplicity with engaging interactions, TalkToo successfully provided a platform for dynamic conversations with beloved characters.
