Here’s a look at my full-scope design for PCretro — an eCommerce platform dedicated to retro PC hardware: graphics cards, CRT monitors, motherboards, joysticks, and more. Everything tailored for nostalgic gamers, modders, and collectors who want to revive the classics — DOSBox not required.
The challenge
Unlike modern tech stores, this platform needed to appeal to a niche, passionate audience — retro PC enthusiasts who know exactly what they’re looking for, but still expect a clean and usable shopping experience.
The store had to look modern, while nodding subtly to the past — like a site built for today, but powered by yesterday’s spirit.
Branding & logo
Before diving into the UI, I designed the logo and visual identity — inspired by old-school PC culture, with a minimal, geometric mark that works in both light and dark contexts. The brand tone balances retro nostalgia with modern trust.
Homepage – clean, focused, practical
The homepage is all about giving users quick access to key categories, current deals, and educational content. I designed a modular layout with featured promotions, product highlights, retro-themed blog articles, and trust-building USPs (“Worldwide shipping,” “100% availability,” etc.).No fluff — just a sharp, informative overview.
Category view – filtering old tech like new pros
With dozens of brands, interfaces (AGP, PCI, ISA), and formats to sort through, the product listing page required a clear and robust filter system. Users can narrow down by chipset, interface, era, and even specific use cases like DirectX/OpenGL support. The layout is optimized for fast scanning with strong visual hierarchy and consistent card structure.
Product page – dense specs without clutter
Retro hardware is full of nuance, so each product page supports long-form descriptions, technical compatibility notes, detailed parameter tables, and image galleries. I designed this view to feel scrollable, readable, and structured — allowing users to focus on the right details without overwhelm.
My role
I was responsible for the full UX, UI, and branding — from content structure and product logic, through visual design and checkout flows, to a modular Figma design system prepped for Magento integration.
