Küü

Küü is a conceptual identity system for a nomad music festival set in the nature of Kyrgyzstan. The project translates traditional Kyrgyz cultural elements into a contemporary, scalable brand framework designed to engage a younger generation while remaining authentic to its roots.

Overview

Framing Culture as a Living System

The festival concept centres around live nomadic music performed in natural landscapes. The objective was not only to design a logo, but to build a holistic identity system capable of operating across physical, digital, and environmental touchpoints. The brand needed to feel culturally grounded while communicating relevance, energy, and openness to international audiences.

Brand Strategy

Revitalising Tradition for a New Generation

The mission was to help young people reconnect with their cultural heritage while inviting international audiences to discover Kyrgyz music. Core values — revitalisation, tradition, and dissemination — defined the strategic direction. The identity positions Küü as both preservation and progression: honouring ancestry while enabling cultural evolution.

Visual Foundation

Cultural Patterns as a Modular Design Language

The visual system draws from traditional Kyrgyz ornaments and diamond-based textile structures. These references were abstracted into geometric forms to create a flexible, repeatable design language rather than decorative motifs. A colour palette inspired by the Kyrgyz flag reinforces authenticity while ensuring strong visual impact across applications.

Logo & Typography

Distinct and Responsive Identity

The wordmark “Küü” integrates ornamental influence within a contemporary typographic structure. Multiple lockups and responsive variations were defined to ensure adaptability across formats. Clear spacing rules and scalability principles establish consistency and recognisability at every size.

System Application

Cohesive Experience Across Touchpoints

The identity extends across posters, tickets, schedules, merchandise, wayfinding pictograms, stage design, and staff apparel. Geometric brand shapes act as compositional anchors, enabling dynamic layouts while preserving coherence. The system ensures the brand remains unified from large-scale environmental graphics to small-format printed materials.
Outcome
Contemporary Framework Rooted in Heritage
The result is a comprehensive identity system that operates beyond a logo — functioning as a structured framework for communication, spatial branding, and merchandise. By translating cultural heritage into a modular system, Küü becomes a contemporary platform for nomadic music and cultural pride.
