Band Assets and Loops 001 - Motion Graphics

During Halloween of 2021, I was tasked by The Range with creating short video loops to be played on our projector behind local bands during our Halloween "Creep Show" Concert. This project was some of the most fun I've had creating, not just because I'm a huge fan of each band's music. Leaning in to our retro style and aesthetic, these graphics helped enhance the experience for all concert attendees.

I went into this wanting to create the most memorable local concert in our town of that year. I was always inspired by one of my favorite bands, The 1975, and the way they incorporated their beautiful graphics during their live shows, and with only a short time to work with. Creating most of the graphics in Photoshop and animating them in After Effects, and finally importing all the assets to OBS Studio to be used live on The Range TV.

Having the concert happen around Halloween time came with creating cute visual ways to spruce up our graphics, including spider webs in the corners of our screens.

When I decided to use old CRT TVs to frame each sequence, I had to get creative in the way I presented each image in each TV. I always love working with music I enjoy, because most of the time, I already have a vision of what I see in my head when I listen to music, which is a great starting point.

This video made for the song "Disco at a Grave" by local band Tony Jupiter is my favorite out of them all. I had to record myself playing the song in one of my favorite games, Clone Hero without missing any notes (small flex). I then had to find a creative way to present that while still using the TVs as a framing device.
