Seal Swimming, a Canadian swim school known for its excellence in child and adult instruction, needed a polished onboarding course to train new swimming instructors and staff. The course had to cover child safety, emergency procedures, poolside conduct, and brand-specific teaching methods—all in a format that could scale as the business expanded.
The challenge was creating a course that maintained a professional tone while being visually engaging and digestible for part-time and seasonal staff, many of whom were first-time instructors. It also had to reflect Seal Swimming’s family-friendly brand and high safety standards.
I designed a SCORM-compliant e-learning module in Articulate Storyline featuring role-play simulations, drag-and-drop lifeguard scenarios, and animated video demonstrations. Visual consistency was key: I matched Seal Swimming’s website colors and fonts, and used custom icons and real pool photos. Quizzes and scenario-based checkpoints ensured high retention.
The course now runs at all Seal Swimming locations and has significantly reduced in-person training time while improving incident response readiness.
