The brief

For this project, I embarked on a creative journey to develop a storyboard that would effectively capture the essence of the festival theme. By incorporating my own unique perspective and design sensibilities, I aimed to craft a narrative that would not only visually represent the festival but also convey its spirit and atmosphere. The resulting design is a testament to the power of creativity and imagination, as it brings the festival to life through a series of visually striking and engaging images.

Design Process/Approach

In conceptualizing the visual identity for the Makassar Culinary Night (MCN), I sought to craft a narrative that would capture the essence of the festival's theme. I aimed to portray the MCN as a character that embodies the spirit of people who have lost their way and are wandering, seeking to find their way to the festival venue. To illustrate this narrative, I incorporated iconic buildings from Makassar into the design, which serves as a metaphor for the MCN's journey towards the festival. The resulting design is a visually striking representation of the MCN's quest, effectively conveying the sense of adventure and discovery that defines the festival.

Results

In designing the visual identity for the culinary festival, I employed a dark purple hue to evoke a sense of mystery and retro ambiance reminiscent of classic video games. The contrast between this rich color and the neon accents serves to amplify the playfulness of the design, effectively capturing the whimsical and festive atmosphere of the event. To further emphasize the focus on the culinary aspect of the festival, I incorporated playful food patterns and blob patterns, which add a sense of visual interest and draw the viewer's attention to the delicious offerings that await.
