Website Design

The goal of this project was too design a landing page with a more conscious approach.

Starting with the website design and then making it responsive to mobile size screens. It was to practice design to resonate with brands and small businesses, while being backed by my expertise in user experience.
I wanted this design to be minimal and yet have a modern resonation to the brand. The layout is placed by hierarchy for the goals of the business.

Using Figma to design this landing page allows me to make micro animations and prototypes to see how the designs and components will look and feel on an actual phone or laptop before development.

Conclusion

This passion project was to show my skills for designing responsive websites. I will be taking this project a step further by developing it into Webflow through the Figma-Webflow plugin.

What I'll continue doing differently

Use images consciously. Part of ethical design is using smaller images or less images in a more purposeful way. Images can really make a website have poor efficiency when loading on a user's screen. Your website is not social media, you do not need to "share" every image you or your business has on your website. So going forward, it is best to really pick the images that matter to the website's content.
Explore more with typography. Using larger fonts actually tends to be much easier for user's to read. Exploring more and trying to use more typography for the user interface while not affecting the usability seems to be a more ethical approach I would like to test out and use in future designs.
Keeping it simple. Digital products and website designs can still be beautiful, inspiring, and engaging while being accessible to all users. The aesthetic should never override the usability. So while your design may seem simple, a lot of research and problem solving has gone into making it usable. And to resonate with your brand or "aesthetic" there are sometimes the most simple and effective ways to modernize or please the user's eye.
