Overland Nomadic - Brand Design for Outdoor Company

Overland Nomadic is a Nevada-based startup specializing in purpose-built accessories for Rivian vehicles. Founded by an experienced engineer from Tesla and Rivian, the brand focuses on practical, modular solutions for off-road and overland travel—designed for ease of use, durability, and seamless vehicle integration.

I worked with the founder to develop a complete visual identity for the brand, starting with logo design and brand direction. This included creating a bold yet minimal logo system, color palette, typography hierarchy, and brand patterns. I also designed and structured a Shopify landing page to support the product launch and outdoor trade show presence, including product visuals, category structure, and email sign-up integration.

The Overland Nomadic logo brings together a mountain silhouette, a compass star, and a bold, minimal wordmark to reflect the brand’s focus on exploration, engineering, and off-road functionality. The mountain lines are loosely inspired by the Sierra Nevada range behind Reno, grounding the visual identity in a real, rugged landscape.

At the center of the logo, the compass needle is tilted at a 12-degree angle, referencing the difference between true north and magnetic north as seen from Las Vegas—an intentional nod to where the company was founded. This subtle detail captures the brand’s adventurous yet precise character: always moving forward, with a clear sense of direction.

The color palette—featuring tones like deep teal, burnt orange, and soft neutral accents—was chosen to complement natural settings while offering a modern take on classic outdoor branding. It evokes a sense of durability, calm, and motion, supporting a clean, versatile design system across digital and physical applications.
