The Game

Dremica is an innovative NFT MMORPG that will offer an ever-evolving, expansion-based gameplay experience. It features a wide variety of biomes, formidable bosses, and challenging dungeons. Catering to various playstyles, Dremica offers a plethora of activities such as quests, crafting, and combat. Supporting both solo and clan-based play, it will ensure a rewarding experience for every type of player.

Project Overview

Our mission is to create the visual and interactive elements that players use, covering all on-screen information and controls that assist in navigating, managing, and enjoying the game. This involves developing intuitive and attractive interfaces that enhance the user experience, ensuring each interaction is smooth and engaging. Our goal is to provide an immersive and enjoyable experience, facilitating access to the game's features in an efficient and visually appealing manner.

Challenges

Our challenge is to create components and screens that provide a fluid and immersive experience, conveying through the UI the sensation that the player is present in a futuristic yet primitive dimension. In this dimension, the player can possess both technological equipment and magical powers, challenging them to use these tools in the best possible way to survive the monsters on the maps and other players.
Another major challenge is to develop an extremely dopaminergic and rewarding UI, strategically using colors, icons, shapes, text, interactions, and micro-interactions to increase player engagement and enhance their desire to experience this magical immersion.

My Role

The creation process for Dremica has been completely different from that used for a common product. It is a continuous process in which the cycle is repeated for the creation of each element. Initially, we were presented with a list of all the needs, which we developed in order of priority. Many of the elements end up being suggested for creation or modification and are added to the list as the team plays and discovers new needs. This dynamic approach allows the game's development to be continuously adjusted and improved, ensuring a more engaging and refined gaming experience.

01 - Research

From the initial phase to the present, I collaborate in the research process, gathering information on styles, architecture, and patterns to use as a foundation for creating the game's UI elements.

02 - Designing Components

At this stage of the process, which is my favorite, I actively collaborate in creating elements, meticulously following style and usability guidelines. To achieve this, I always consider aspects such as user experience, visual coherence, and interactive consistency. I ensure that every decision aligns with the overall vision of the game, creating a seamless and engaging experience for players. This involves close teamwork with other designers and developers to refine and perfect each element, enhancing the player's immersion and enjoyment of the game.

03 - Interactions

Almost every element we create incorporates some form of interaction to make the game as stimulating and rewarding as possible. After the initial creation, which is already done with this in mind, we move on to creating interactions and micro-interactions. We always ensure that these interactions are aligned with the overall vision of the game, enhancing player immersion and satisfaction.

04 - Design System

Once the element is created and approved, we immediately componentize it to gradually build the design system and keep it updated. This greatly facilitates the need for changes, which are common as the game is still in development.

05 - Handoff

After incorporating the elements into the Design System, we prepare them for handoff to developers. This involves integrating foundational components from the design system, applying local styles, and ensuring they are marked as "ready for development" in Figma.

A Sneak Peek at What's Ahead

Due to the confidentiality of the project and the game not yet being released to the public, I am unable to share images of the UI at this time. For more updates and details, feel free to follow their X account and visit Dremica's website.
