Designing Clarity for a Multi-Feature Rewards Super-App

The Problem

The founder had functional wireframes for a platform combining shopping, rewards, gifting, bulk deals, and parcel delivery. The concepts made sense in Nigerian/Kenyan markets but needed to work for users without that context. I had to make 5+ transaction types clear, execute on tight timeline, work within strong founder vision, no user testing.

What I Did

Gave each transaction type distinct visual treatment—different iconography, color coding, layout patterns. Gifts looked different from deals looked different from point redemptions. Users could scan and identify what they were looking at.
Added helper text and tooltips where concepts needed explanation. Designed onboarding to introduce features one at a time. Made confirmation screens reinforce the action. Error states that explained the problem, not just "something went wrong."
Organized 10+ feature areas into logical groups with consistent navigation. Users could always tell where they were and get back.
Executed on founder's vision while flagging UX gaps. Balanced his preferences on branding with decisions that made the platform understandable.

The Result

Delivered production-ready designs in 2 months. Product launched with marketing site.
Clarinne works like she has front row seats in my brain, able to bring my vision to life without me explaining too much.
