Case Study: Designing an engaging learning platform
Mobile Homepage
Overview
I designed a custom online platform dedicated to teaching the principles of influence psychology. The project focused on creating a user-centered experience that not only educates but subtly incorporates psychological biases to nudge users toward deeper engagement. The platform includes a customizable landing page tailored to different audiences and a comprehensive learning environment where users can follow lessons, track progress, and complete assessments. This case study explores my design process, key decisions, and collaboration with developers to deliver a scalable solution.
Approach
Mobile-First Design
Given the diverse user base, I began with a mobile-first approach to ensure accessibility and ease of use on smaller screens. The designs emphasized clarity and intuitive navigation. After finalizing the mobile designs, I expanded them for desktop, utilizing the additional space for richer visual elements and functionality.
Focus Areas
Customizable Landing Page
The landing page was designed to adapt to different audience segments, using personalized content and visuals to increase relevance.
I incorporated subtle visual cues and biases, such as social proof and scarcity, to guide user behavior and encourage sign-ups.
Learning Environment
The learning environment provides a structured yet flexible experience, enabling users to progress through lessons at their own pace.
Features include:
A dashboard for tracking progress.
Interactive lesson modules designed for engagement.
A seamless flow from learning to testing with integrated assessments.
Interactive Assessments
Assessment modules were designed to be intuitive and visually engaging, reducing user anxiety around testing.
Nudges like progress bars and immediate feedback keep users motivated to complete their courses.
Collaboration and Handoff
Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with developers to ensure a smooth implementation of the designs. The typography, grid system, and components were aligned with Tailwind CSS standards, making it easier for the development team to translate designs into a functional platform. Regular communication ensured the designs were feasible and met technical requirements, while maintaining the intended user experience.
