About the Company

Turaco is a startup InsurTech company based in Nairobi, Kenya, and operating in 4 African countries. They offer low-cost health insurance products in emerging markets, where the people are the most underserved by insurance companies yet most in need of affordable health insurance in Africa.
They achieve this by making health insurance packages easily accessible on any mobile phone, smart or otherwise, as well as by partnering with other companies that provide products that Turaco's end-users are already using, thereby increasing the users' accessibility to affordable health insurance and increasing the value of the partner products.

The Problem

As a Series A funded startup, it is crucial for Turaco to consistently create content that demonstrates the impact of their products, as well as documents their growth as a company. This reassures current investors that their investment is secure, and aims to attract more investors for future funding rounds.
Additionally, because Turaco works directly with other companies to market and sell insurance through their partner's existing projects, the company needs to produce thought leadership content that builds relationships with their partner companies, as well as attracts future companies to partner with Turaco to provide affordable health insurance products to their customers.

The Solution

Turaco contracted me to serve as their Content Marketer (as well as their Marketing Lead for one of their locations).
As their content marketer, I was responsible for;
updating and maintaining the company's content calendar.
collaborating with leadership and cross-functional teams to write thought leadership content for LinkedIn.
creating branded graphics to match the thought leadership content we created.
work with partner companies to create marketing materials for existing and new products such as brochures, sales material, and more.
As a result, I ensured the company always had content published every weekend, increasing followership by 25% in 3 months. Additionally, my work in combination with other marketing functions helped the company reach a milestone goal of insuring 1 million lives.
