The brief

Independent artists lose their audience and their income to middlemen. Reng was started so they would not: a place where people, not an algorithm, decide what gets heard, and where artists keep their music, their audience and most of the money.

Discovery through people

Each listener's weekly picks come from what the people they follow are playing. There are no hand-picked lists and no platform-wide charts, so a small artist with a loyal circle can travel as far as a big one.

A player that points to the artist

Everything is small and quiet so the music leads. The gold drop is the like, AI-made music is welcome and simply carries an AI tag, and Support sends tips straight to the artist.

Artists first

Every artist carries the gold drop from their first day. Seventy-five percent of revenue goes to artists, shared by what each listener actually played, and fans can message artists directly.

The system

Paper, ink and one gold. Reng Line, a hairline typeface drawn for the brand, a custom icon family in the same stroke, Vazirmatn for Persian, and an app icon reduced to a single gold drop on cream.

The build

One code base runs the iOS app and the phone web app: native push notifications, Sign in with Apple and Google, English and Persian with right-to-left layouts, reporting and blocking, account deletion built to App Store rules, and payments through Stripe on the web and In-App Purchase on iOS.
