Sharjah24 is the official news platform of Sharjah, UAE. The goal of the mobile app redesign was to modernize the user interface, enhance the content consumption experience, and ensure smooth performance across both Arabic and English languages.
My Role
As the Senior UI Designer, I was responsible for leading the visual and user interface design of the entire app. I worked closely with internal stakeholders and developers to deliver a high-fidelity, brand-aligned experience.
Objectives
Make the news content more accessible and engaging
Design a bilingual (Arabic & English) interface
Improve navigation and content hierarchy
Ensure visual consistency across mobile platforms

Research and Benchmarking
Analyzed regional and international news apps (e.g., Al Jazeera, BBC, Gulf News)
Studied user behavior for news consumption on mobile
Identified content types: articles, videos, breaking news, social embeds
Paid close attention to RTL (Right-to-Left) layout requirements for Arabic
Design Process
Created user flows and wireframes to map out key journeys (e.g., reading articles, browsing categories, switching language)
Designed clean, modern UI screens in line with Sharjah24’s brand colors and typography
Delivered interactive prototypes for testing and stakeholder approvals
Coordinated with developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation
Outcome
Successfully launched on both iOS and Android platforms
Positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and app users
Significant improvement in user engagement and retention metrics post-launch
App is live and serving thousands of users across the UAE
