Design lead for EPAPA AI learning app

EPAPA is an AI learning app that helps students overcome math anxiety through personalized, conversational tutoring. Instead of lectures, students chat with an AI teacher that adapts explanations step-by-step to their understanding, making math feel approachable and human.

I joined the team to lead design from concept to MVP defining the user experience, visual identity, and product narrative that turned an idea into a working, investor-ready prototype.

The task was to translate a proven teaching approach into an engaging, AI-driven app and do it in just four weeks.

The main goals were to:

Design a learning flow that feels conversational and intuitive

Build a scalable UI system ready for future content modules

Deliver an MVP that could clearly demonstrate the learning logic to investors and testers

Worked closely with the Founder, Product Lead, and Marketing Team to bring the concept to life from user flow mapping and interface design to product storytelling and presentation materials.

I focused on turning complex learning theory into a simple, motivating product experience.

Key design features included:

Conversational learning: Students interact directly with an AI tutor via chat

Personalized feedback: Encouraging tone instead of corrections

Motivation loops: Progress tracking, streaks, and trophies to sustain engagement

Scalable design system: Built in Figma for rapid iteration and future lessons

Deliverables included UX flows, high-fidelity UI, an interactive prototype, and a full pitch deck and style guide for launch.

The MVP launch received strong external validation and early traction:

Funded through the Berlin Startup Grant (€35,000)

Accepted into AI Accelerator Berlin (€15,000 non-equity)

Praised by educators for transforming tutoring into a human-like AI experience

The result was an investor-ready prototype that positioned EPAPA as a promising EdTech startup redefining how students learn math with AI.
