FontMatch – Find free alternatives to paid fonts

I built FontMatch as a small side project to solve a recurring design problem I often ran into: I would find an amazing paid font, but not every project needs (or can afford) a licensed one. Finding a free alternative that looks similar could take forever.
So I created FontMatch - a simple web app built with Cursor and Claude Code that helps designers quickly find free, commercial-use fonts that resemble premium ones.
The app focuses on being lightweight and useful: you type a paid font name and instantly get AI-curated free alternatives with similarity and confidence scores. It’s still early, but it’s been a fun way to learn, experiment, and explore how AI can improve small design workflows.
Scope of Work:
Prompt Architecture & AI Logic
Front-end Development (Next.js + Tailwind)
UI/UX Design
Cursor-based Build Workflow
