Delivery Mobile App Design (A work in Progress)

In Nigeria’s fast-growing food and grocery delivery market, major players like Bolt Food and Glovo dominate. However, gaps in affordability, service efficiency, and local adaptation create opportunities for new entrants.

Our team was tasked with designing a user-friendly, cost-effective, and scalable delivery app that improves the experience for customers, delivery partners, and merchants.

Despite the availability of delivery services, users frequently experience:

✅ High delivery fees ✅ Long wait times & canceled orders ✅ Limited coverage in suburban and semi-urban areas ✅ Poor customer support

🔹 Customers want cheaper, faster, and more reliable delivery 🔹 Vendors struggle with unpredictable commission fees & app glitches 🔹 Riders need better incentives and navigation tools

🚀 Goal: Reduce friction in ordering ✅ Smart recommendations based on past orders ✅ Real-time ETA updates with dynamic tracking ✅ Multi-cart option for ordering from multiple vendors

💰 Goal: Make deliveries affordable ✅ Flat-rate pricing for select areas ✅ Real-time promo notifications ✅ Subscription model for free/discounted delivery

We conducted 3 rounds of usability testing with different user groups and improved: 🔹 Checkout speed – Reduced steps for faster processing 🔹 App navigation – Simplified menu structure 🔹 Delivery tracking – Improved live updates with clearer UI

This project aimed to redefine food delivery in Nigeria by addressing affordability, accessibility, and reliability gaps. With a user-centered approach, our solution offers a seamless experience for customers, vendors, and riders, positioning the app as a strong competitor to Bolt Food & Glovo.
