For our neighbors living near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Route 66 has become a local staple for good food and friendly people.
Owner Mujtaba “Mash” Mahmood moved to Lancaster with his family in 2014 and pursued his American dream of running a business. The menu features a combination of traditional American cuisine, like burgers, fries and shakes, along with dishes that remind Mash's family of home.
Before Route 66 opened, people in the city did not have many choices for halal meat. Now, thanks to their halal burgers (which were voted in Yelp’s “Top Cheeseburger in Every State!"), the citizens of Lancaster have a delicious option right in their neighborhood.
This went a long way for our new Afghan neighbors that had trouble adjusting to life and cuisine in the U.S. From the menu and ingredients to the customers and decor, Route 66 perfectly mirrors the diversity that makes Lancaster so special.
