PureBites - Celiac-Safe Dining App Development

Project Overview We successfully delivered a PureBites Celiac-Safe Dining App built on FlutterFlow and Firebase, designed to give people with Celiac disease a safe and confident dining experience. The app automatically scans restaurant menus in the background using AI, assigning each restaurant a Celiac Safety Score (0–100) based on gluten risk and cross-contact potential. By default, the interactive map (powered by Google Maps API) only displays restaurants scoring 70+, ensuring users see safe options first.

Core features include:

AI-powered menu analysis (HTML, PDF, image OCR) with automated scoring.

Interactive map view showing only safe restaurants, with a toggle to reveal all places.

Firebase authentication for secure user accounts.

Favorites, personal notes, and restaurant flagging to capture user feedback.

Admin dashboard for moderation and manual score overrides.

We implemented the app end-to-end using FlutterFlow for rapid cross-platform development and Firebase for backend services (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Functions). The result is a production-ready, responsive application for iOS, Android, and web, with scalable infrastructure to support future features like dark mode, offline access, travel mode, and community chat.
