Letter Writing

Introduction✨

Writing a letter might be a daunting task. We often get lost in what we are trying to say, or how can we phrase something. Are we getting the tone right, or are we too emotional? Those are questions that we search answers for.

To help with that, I started writing personal letters for my individual clients. From pitch letters to love letters, I have completed a couple of gigs that vary in tone and purpose. This is how I do it, and what it means for the client.

My role in the project🖊️

Even though in our day to day lives we use short-form messages in our WhatsApp or Telegram groups, the art of letter writing is far from being forgotten. People still want a nicely written e-mail, and headhunters require a cover letter to support the claims made in a resume. Even broken hearts can be put back together if the right combination of words strikes a chord.

This is the most personal service I provide, and I ask my client a multitude of questions before I even start thinking about the letter. I know how important words can be, and writing in the name of someone is one of the greatest honours a writer can experience. Someone trusts you with their voice.

Each client has different needs, so after the interview, I look through the answers I have been given and start figuring out how to structure the letter. After I have done the organizational aspect, I can start writing. Just like with any of the other projects, I leave the article for 24h. After that time has passed, I can edit and use apps like Grammarly or HemingwayApp to get rid of any impurities.

I read the letter one more time, and after I am happy with the result, I can send it to the client. If the client is happy with the result, we part ways until there is a need for another letter. If the client is unhappy with the result, we work on the letter as long as it takes to make it perfect.

Conclusions🥀

Even though communication has been simplified in many aspects, people still like to receive well thought out longer forms of writing. Sending out a personal, touching letter can stop wars, fix relationships, or get you the job you wanted.
