WhatsApp – Chat Without Saving Number (iOS Redesign)
Turning a viral user request into a real feature concept.
Project Description: I designed a WhatsApp feature that allows users to chat with unsaved numbers, providing a simple solution to a widely discussed problem.
Inspired by a post on X that got over 6,000 likes and 290,000 impressions, this redesign keeps WhatsApp’s familiar flow but introduces a small addition with huge convenience:
A new “Start Chat with Number” button on the New Chat screen
A pop-up modal to type or paste a number
Automatic verification before opening the chat
A small notification banner reminding users that the number isn’t saved
This concept aims to reduce friction for users who often chat with businesses, delivery agents, or one-time contacts.
