I might not excel in English but this cannot prevent me from teaching and spreading knowledge to the world.
Started from Summer 2018
Voluntary English Teacher at La Pagoda, Vietnam
Every weekend, my friend and I came to La Pagoda located 5 miles away from my home, but no worries, we were properly being there teaching, communicating, and even learning a lot from the kids.
The kids were so naive, adorable, and all desired to learn English.
We came there carrying the mission:
Make English be the part of Vietnamese Younger Generation.
As we all know that, English is the gate for generations to be able to promote their potential abilities and approach the world. I spent 6 months teaching at La Pagoda and only stopped when I was about to study abroad in Japan, in 2019.
One time capturing our teaching moment
Explaining new words to the kids
A little memory as a recognition
To Summer 2020,
English Teacher at Hallo English Centre
Being back with this honored position as a part-time job was really amazing. I did recall the time when little kids at La Pagoda kept calling me "Teacher! Teacher! I have something to tell you today!"
Her Little Picture "Me and My Teacher"😍
Well, it WAS sometimes disappointing when the kids didn't memorize my lesson but partly this reminded me to figure out ways of having a better teaching style plus cool techniques from me to them to let them engage more and proactively learn more.
Teaching Assistant at my University, 2021
This time, English is not used for teaching anymore but for communicating and helping the other freshmen understand deeper the lecture, hence study more effectively.
Furthermore, this position definitely helped me broaden my network with new students -kouhai and excellent sempai (seniors).
"Teamwork is a MUST at uni-life." Well, this position once again proves this quote is 100% correct. I had to work with my partner/ my professors to together manage the class most productively.
Me making fun poses with my partner at recess 👻
Working alone was more familiar to me but this Teaching assistant position style totally made me learn to collaborate with another person to transmit the information/ the lesson efficiently.
My Professors and TA Team
I did have more time with my students after class. We spent time together, not as a TA-student role but as friends, chatting, exchanging new things about our new life in this new country.
Present
This isn't the end of my "English journey" yet.
I'm still a part of the English TA team at my University at the present.
And I am sure that, this journey will definitely day-to-day more and more bring me so many benefits than I could tell you here.
Thank you for passing by and See you in my next updates! 😊
