Part 1: Hours and hours on job-seeking websites – worth the effort:

I outlined jobs related to my area of study - Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism Management, there are small areas of work that I can apply for an internship in terms of this major, for example: receptionist, housekeeping, door girl, waitress.
I go to FB groups - where a lot of jobs/intern opportunities are shared widely and even daily. What I always do is to read the comments of the job recruitment posts because there will be other job recruiters who also drop their job descriptions, and a lot of people will evaluate, give advice about that job which we need to prepare beforehand of what to do when applying for a job.
In addition to FB groups, I also spend 3 hours a day on job-seeking websites to find a job.
The amazing part of these steps is that there are job descriptions and requirements for each job so I will know if I am suitable for the job or not and then be able to confidently apply.
Another benefit of finding a job like this is that because you will identify more companies that you've not heard of before, and after having the company names, let's go to the fourth step!
4. Got the names - go email-ing: one experience I have learned is that you should not apply for jobs through job-seeking websites, but after finding a job that suits you, search for the company's HR email and send them with your cover letter and CV directly. By communicating directly with them, you will reach them faster and get them responded quicker.
The insight: The hotel I wanted to intern at at that time did not recruit the position of a receptionist, but I still boldly emailed the recruiter to introduce myself and explain the reason for wanting to do the internship with my CV. I think it's very simple, they see my sincerity, though they didn't need it at that time, after I applied, they've just had the demand, and so I was lucky enough to be the first candidate to apply early and thus have a better chance of passing. I realized I was competing with many others, so why don't I just go ahead, just do it because eventually at least we try our best, right?
So for that internship seeking period, I applied via email a total of 6 applications, 3 ghosted, 2 interview calls, 1 rejection, and eventually, I got one offer – a perfect thing in the end, right :D

Part 2: The interview: personal experiences

In my opinion, applying for an internship is quite easy, as long as you confidently think that you are suitable for that. Because the:
- Internship does not need professional experience
- You are a rookie, you have many options, you don't have many demands for an intern position.
Employers do not require you to have experience (because experience is your purpose for applying for an internship), HOWEVER, they will choose the most suitable candidates. For example, the receptionist position basically needs a girl who is bright, has good communication skills, fluent in foreign languages, and has interests in her field of study. If you confidently meet those requirements plus a little luck (sorry, I believe in spirituality LOL) then you will definitely get it. So when I interview, what I do is show everything I have so they can choose. Examples:
Boss: Based on your CV, I can see that you don't have any experience in hospitality, you only teach English, right?
Me: Oh that's correct. I teach English a lot to have another income during the epidemic season as well as practice my communication skills. After a period of teaching students, my communication skills are so much better.
Good communication skills – confirmed! through the above answer
Foreign language ability - confirmed
I was asked: what do the receptionist tasks include, can you name it? – As a habit, I always do little research on the position I am applying for right after sending the application email, so I know what I need to answer.
Have basic knowledge of the industry – confirmed
In terms of visuals, I have attached my photo in my CV: fresh, confident, and cute too :)).
After a few basic questions like that, I was asked when I could go back to work. I replied with my reason, and this reason is also related to the reason why I applied for an internship right from the time I emailed my CV. At that time, I presented that I wanted to take advantage of the 2-month spring break to gain experience and better understand my field of study. So, when I was asked when I could go back to work, I honestly replied that because spring break is limited, I want to start as soon as possible.

Conclusion:

Seek for an internship - Be Proactive! You need to know what you can offer and how far you can try, then show it to the employer. Thus, not only have the opportunity to successfully apply for an internship, but also find your mosth satisfactory job!
Little Tips:
- Please list your characteristics/strengths in advance and compare them with the job and then you can apply confidently!
- Always give a reason! Give the basis for each of your answers, so the answer will be more convincing.
