A well-known psychologist in New York had me write an entire book in their specialty. I led the creative process and we began by coming up with the book's title, tagline, logline, and book blurb. Having this marketing copy in place before we started outlining the book kept us focused on the psychologist's purpose for writing the book.

As the book was ghostwritten, their main requirement was that the published book read as if they had written it themselves. To accomplish that, we spent several hours on Zoom, where I interviewed them for the content and got an ear for their voice. Even in the earliest stages of writing the outline, I began to incorporate their speech patterns.

The psychologist had vast experience and discoursed widely during our interviews. There was little structure to what they said, as their ideas were organically connected and spaned not only psychology but also theories of mind, mythology, and literature. I brought a storytelling organization to their wide-ranging ideas and insights.

They remembered many sources for their knowledge, but few of them precisely. Based on their recollections, I found the sources so we could quote them or reference them correctly.

The book received excellent reviews. It serves the psychologist beautifully as a tool for getting interviews, speaking engagements, and corporate clients.
