My series "Tour Report" is a visual look at the tour dates and locations for traveling bands/artists, presented in a beautifully retro VHS and vintage Weather Channel style. Creating the assets in Photoshop, and importing to their respective scenes in OBS Studio, with scene switching done live to give an authentic TV broadcast feel. The final video is later edited together in Premiere Pro and exported for upload on most social platforms to help cultivate our audience of music lovers.

Recording the raw footage to my personal VHS tapes, and then recorded back to my computer gives the video an authentic VHS/retro style appearance and sound. For this specific video, I recorded the raw footage to 4 separate VHS tapes of different manufacturers and edited together a combination of all 4 versions to get the perfect and clearest result possible for the final product. One of the benefits of recording to real tapes is the authentic VHS style glitches you can achieve with my setup, creating beautiful images like the one seen above, which can later be edited together for a more dramatic and impactful final product, which stands apart from other fake VHS style videos.

Inspiration for the scenes' designs and layout comes easy, as an avid fan of retro/vintage Weather Channel content. I often find myself scouring archival websites and scrubbing through old VHS rips to find inspiration for a specific scene or element needed for a video.

With green screen keying and scene switching done live in OBS Studio using a Stream Deck, the final product gives off an authentic retro broadcast feel. Custom animations were used to make the map livelier in the background.

Creating the custom map assets as well as the custom route animations, Low Ticket and Sold Out icons really added a sense of authenticity to each episode. Creating each asset in Photoshop and importing to After Effects to animate by hand shows my commitment to the small details.

Thanks to the rise in popular social media apps such as TikTok, I've had to format our videos differently to tailor to each platform. Using the advantage of the extra screen real estate, I managed to fit in the Map Animations as well as Ticket Prices scene above and below the main video, creating a unique way of visualizing each set of information at once.
