Aroppo × Affiliate Micro Creator Campaign

Turning opportunity discovery into a creator-led acquisition channel

Devon Bulgin , Aroppo’s founder came to me to build an affiliate creator campaign from the ground up.
The product helps people discover grants, hackathons, competitions, and other opportunities — but the challenge wasn't simply getting people to know Aroppo existed.
It was getting them to care enough to act.
So instead of building a campaign around “Here’s Aroppo, go sign up,” I built the strategy around the thing people actually wanted: finding opportunities worth pursuing.
Creators became the bridge between those opportunities and Aroppo.
The campaign was built around one question:

Can Micro creators really do magic and settle the infamous debate that micro creators are better than macro,?

Project Snapshot

Client: Aroppo
Product: Opportunity discovery platform for grants, hackathons, competitions and other opportunities
Channel: TikTok / Short-form video
Market: Global
Creator Verticals: Education, entrepreneurship, technology, productivity, career, design, developers and creator communities
Affiliate Model: Unique creator codes + 20% off annual subscription

Scope

Full affiliate creator strategy, Creator research, list building & vetting, Creator outreach & recruitment, Affiliate code coordination, Creator relationship management, Campaign tracking & reporting, Website performance analysis

Objectives

The campaign was designed to do more than generate views.
01 Build awareness among highly relevant audiences
02 Turn creator attention into measurable traffic and sign-ups
03 Give creators a reason to keep promoting Aroppo
04 Give their audiences a clear incentive to convert with 20% off
05 Drive users to discover and save opportunities
06 Identify creators and content formats worth scaling

Strategy & Approach

01 — Sell the opportunity, not the platform

The first shift was in how we approached the content.
Aroppo itself wasn't the hook.
The opportunity was.
A creator talking about a grant their audience could apply for is naturally more interesting than a creator saying:
“Here’s a platform you should check out.”
So we built content around grants, hackathons, competitions and useful opportunities — with Aroppo positioned as the place to find more.
That made the product part of the solution rather than the entire pitch.

02 — Build the campaign around affiliates

I structured the campaign as an affiliate program rather than a collection of one-off creator posts.
Each creator received a unique affiliate code.
Their audience received 20% off an annual Aroppo subscription.
That created a straightforward value exchange:
Creator shares → Audience gets a useful resource + discount → Creator earns from referrals → Aroppo acquires users
More importantly, it gave us a way to evaluate creators based on action, not just reach.

03 — Recruit for audience fit, not follower count

I researched creators across education, technology, entrepreneurship, productivity, career and creator-focused communities.
Creators were assessed based on audience relevance, engagement, content quality, niche alignment and their ability to communicate useful information naturally.
The goal wasn't to find the biggest accounts.
It was to find creators whose audiences were already asking the kinds of questions Aroppo could answer.

04 — Give creators direction without killing the content

I created structured briefs covering Aroppo's positioning, opportunity-led content angles, campaign messaging, affiliate CTA, discount and creator codes.
But the briefs weren't designed to make every creator sound identical.
Creators had room to present opportunities in their own voice and format.
The result was content that could still feel like creator content, rather than six versions of the same advertisement.

05 — Turn every creator into a measurable channel

I tracked performance beyond social views.
The campaign connected:
Creator content → Landing pages → Accounts → Product activity
That meant we could see not only who generated attention, but who generated actual interest in Aroppo.

08 — Optimization & Next Opportunity

The campaign created the foundation for a longer-term affiliate program.
The next step is to identify creators who combine:
Strong content performance + qualified traffic + conversions
Those creators can then be developed into repeat partners through additional opportunity-led content, recurring campaigns and stronger affiliate incentives.

Campaign Takeaway

The campaign moved Aroppo beyond:

“Pay creators to post.”

Instead, it created a system where creators had:
A reason to promote → a unique code → an audience incentive → measurable results.
For Aroppo, that meant more than awareness.
It created an initial creator acquisition framework with a tested creator pool, content angles, performance benchmarks and a structure that can be optimized and scaled.

Creator content became more than reach.

It became a measurable path to acquisition.
