Overview

Blokees is a high‑volume, multi‑region Shopify storefront for premium buildable collectibles and model kits (Transformers, Evangelion, Saint Seiya, Ultraman, Jurassic World, etc.). Objective: deliver a fast, scalable, and merchandisable D2C experience with granular taxonomy (IP, line, age, price), robust search/filters, and internationalization (GBP/US/EU) while maintaining high conversion on mobile.

Key Features

Deep Catalog Architecture: Nested collections (franchise → series → version) with canonical URLs, SEO handles, and metafield‑driven attributes (age rating, articulation points, finish, LED features).
Faceted Navigation: Price ranges, age groups, line/series, and character filters via querystring state; SEO‑safe filtering with indexable collection pages.
Globalization: Multi‑currency and locale routing (e.g., en‑GB) with country selector, localized price formatting, and shipping rules.
Merchandising Modules: “New Arrivals,” “Best Sellers,” “Featured Showcase,” “Influencer Favorites,” and “Community Reviews,” fed by automated collections and dynamic product badges.
PDP Conversion UX: Variant images, inventory states, sticky ATC, trust/payment badges, rich media galleries, and structured data (Product, BreadcrumbList).
UGC & Social Proof: High‑volume review feed, influencer carousels, and “Builder’s Showcase” content blocks.
Performance: Lazy‑loaded media, responsive images, critical CSS, section‑level hydration minimization.

Challenges & Solutions

Complex Taxonomy & SEO: Implemented metafield‑driven collection rules and canonicalization to avoid duplicate content; generated SEO‑friendly handles and breadcrumb schema.
Faceted Filters at Scale: Built URL‑driven, cache‑friendly filters with pre‑computed result counts and no SEO cannibalization; maintained state across pagination.
Internationalization: Normalized pricing with auto currency, shipping profiles, and localized content blocks; ensured consistent VAT/GBP display on en‑GB.
Performance on Media‑Heavy PDPs: Deferred non‑critical JS, responsive srcset, lazy hydration, and image preconnect/preload for hero assets; reduced CLS on carousels.
