🚀Project overview
Nikah Namah is a Muslim matrimonial platform designed to facilitate meaningful connections grounded in Islamic values. It provides a safe and halal environment where individuals can connect with like‑minded partners while upholding faith, integrity and respect. The app supports users through a team of experienced relationship managers and advanced search features to help them find compatible life partners.
🎳Client & goals
Existing matrimonial sites often lacked verified profiles and robust privacy practices; trust was a major concern. Nikah Namah needed a system that could ensure authenticity and protect user data.
Many users require personalised guidance rather than algorithm‑only matchmaking. Bridging the gap between technology and personalised support was essential.
The platform must cater to diverse preferences (religious observance, cultural background, age, location, education) while remaining simple to use.
🧩Our approach
Research & planning. Conducted stakeholder interviews and competitive analysis to identify pain points and requirements. Studied Islamic matrimonial practices to ensure cultural alignment.
Design. Created user personas and customer journeys; designed wireframes and high‑fidelity UI mock‑ups using Figma. Included desktop and mobile layouts focusing on accessibility and responsive design.
Development. Built a full‑stack solution using Laravel (PHP) for the backend and React for the web front end. Implemented RESTful APIs for the mobile app (Android/iOS) and integrated third‑party services such as Twilio for SMS/OTP verification and AWS for secure hosting. Profile verification workflows and encryption were core features.
Testing. Performed unit, integration and user‑acceptance testing. Implemented security testing (OWASP) and load testing to ensure scalability.
Deployment & support. Deployed the web application on AWS and published the Android app on the Google Play Store. Provided training and documentation for relationship managers and admins. Implemented analytics to track user behaviour and engagement.
💡 Core features
Verified profiles and privacy. Every profile undergoes a rigorous verification process to ensure authenticity; personal data is encrypted and only shared when both parties consent. Users can report suspicious activity and block profiles.
Advanced search filters. Users can filter potential matches by religious observance, sect (Sunni, Shia), age range, region, profession, education level and lifestyle preferences.
Personalised matchmaking. Relationship managers work with users to understand their needs and suggest compatible matches. A recommendation algorithm ranks profiles based on mutual preferences.
Secure communication. Built‑in chat and audio/video call features allow members to communicate without sharing phone numbers. In‑app calling is guarded by privacy controls so conversation histories remain confidential.
Educational resources. The platform offers blogs and guides with tips for creating strong profiles, advice for successful meetings and strategies for long‑distance relationships.
Admin dashboard. Admins manage user verification, handle reports, approve content and view analytics. Relationship managers have tools to monitor matches and assist users.
Payments & premium plans. Integrated payment gateways enable users to upgrade for premium matchmaking services (e.g., priority listing, profile boosts). Transactions are PCI‑compliant.
⚙️Technologies used
Frontend: React, Redux, Tailwind CSS; Figma for UI/UX design.
Backend: Laravel (PHP) with MySQL database; RESTful APIs.
Infrastructure: AWS EC2, S3, RDS; CloudFront CDN; SSL/TLS encryption.
Third‑party services: Twilio (SMS/OTP), SendGrid (email notifications), Stripe/Razorpay (payments), Google Maps (location services).
Testing tools: Jest, PHPUnit, Postman, OWASP ZAP, JMeter.
👤My role & contributions
Led the project from concept to launch, acting as product manager, lead developer and UX designer.
Collaborated with the client to define requirements and product roadmap.
Designed wireframes, prototypes and final UI; conducted user‑testing sessions.
Developed backend APIs and implemented front‑end components; coordinated mobile app development.
Managed deployment, monitoring and maintenance; provided training for client’s team.

Launch an iOS version of the app to expand user reach.
Integrate AI‑powered recommendation for more accurate matching based on behavioural data.
Implement video verification to further reduce fake profiles.
Expand community features such as discussion forums or event listings.
Explore language localisation (Urdu, Arabic) for broader adoption.
