How Herr Kliek Store started

The COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown that followed was a bad impact on a many businesses. The losses suffered by them is unimaginable. Many business owners lost their business, their market and their customers.

Out of these business owners was one of my friend who had started a business of Lucknow Chikan clothing, fabrics and apparels by the name of Herr Kliek. They had put in a lot of money on buying a premise to run their business but because of the pandemic and the nationwide lockdown, they were not able to open this store.

Then they approached me if something could be done about this. Also they wanted a solution that was fast and could be put in motion within a span of few weeks. So I came up with a solution of setting up an E-commerce store for them at www.herrkliek.com.



Challenges involved

Herr Kliek had a variety of products which were available in various sizes, colors, designs etc. Also they had planned to deliver their products all over India. The delivery charges for each city, state is different. For payments they have options for Cash on Delivery but they also want to use online payment methods. The website should be responsive i.e. it can be viewed on variety of devices like phones, tablets, laptops etc. Following were the objectives that had to be achieved:

• Set-up an E-commerce store for the business
• The store should have all the facilities like adding products, product details prices, description, variants etc.
• Inventory management for the products
• Taxation, transaction management
• Shipment/Delivery
• Customer details/Order details
• Analytics

Also all these objectives had to be achieved over a matter of weeks, as they had to launch their store on the pre-decided date.

Proposed solution and happily ever after

While creating an E-commerce portal there is a scope for a large number of platforms, languages, web servers and frameworks to choose from. Before selecting from this large array of technologies, the following aspects, which are characteristic to web based application like this one, had been kept in mind:

I designed a medium range E-commerce system illustrated by using the most common features of WordPress, PHP and WooCommerce. This project included all the possible modules that should be present in an ecommerce platform, buying, online transactions, delivery, taxation, inventory management etc.

Each and every step was taken cautiously while keeping in mind the time constraint. Ranging from the design aesthetics, theming, branding, product image optimization, showcasing, everything was implemented carefully.

Since my client was very clear about their requirements, the project got completed on time and they received many orders on the day of launch. As of today the store has may customers and the business is booming.
