Designing Cashback & Rewards Incentives to Drive User Upgrades

Introduction

User engagement and plan adoption are critical factors in the success of any fintech app. At Monese, we noticed a significant number of users sticking with our basic plan and wanted to uncover the underlying reasons. Our data-driven research revealed a key pain point: users' desire for more Cashback, Rewards, and special offers. To address this, we embarked on a journey to enrich our paid plans, incentivizing our free plan users to upgrade.

My Role

As a Senior Product Designer, I collaborated closely with the Rewards team to craft a strategic plan and design an end to end user-centric solution that would seamlessly integrate Cashback and Rewards into the Monese experience.

Discovery & Solution

Our solution revolved around creating a dedicated Rewards section, consolidating all incentives in one accessible place. This not only simplified user navigation but also provided a comprehensive overview of available rewards. Users could now easily explore different rewards, gaining insights into the perks they could enjoy. Furthermore, we established partnerships with various businesses to expand the range of rewards offered.

Key Achievements

1. Enhanced User Engagement Through a dedicated Rewards section, we achieved a 5% increase in user plan upgrades. This significant boost demonstrates the power of strategically placed incentives to drive user actions. 2. Tailored Cashback Offers A remarkable 80% of users actively engaged with Tail cashback offers, highlighting the effectiveness of personalized incentives. 3. Boosted Avios Account Openings We witnessed a remarkable 16% increase in users opening Avios accounts, showcasing the potential for collaboration and user acquisition through partnerships.

Conclusion

Our journey to enhance the Cashback and Rewards experience within the Monese app not only improved user engagement but also laid the foundation for future growth and partnerships. By addressing user pain points and strategically implementing solutions, we succeeded in providing added value to our user base while driving business growth. This case study serves as a testament to our commitment to user-centric design and innovation, and it highlights the potential for similar improvements in other areas of the Monese app.
